Vacation is Calling my Name...MUST ANSWER!

Next week can't come soon enough! I've got a big week on the table and can't wait to get it started! Here's how my week should shake out.

Monday...unfortunately I have to work :( BOO

Tuesday: Heading to JIMMY BUFFETT! I am a Parrot Head. I grew up on sailboats and Jimmy's music. My parents are Parrot Heads, my brother is a Parrot Head, so essentially, I am too! This concert is by far one of my favorite ones to go to year after year. This year it's at Lakewood (or whatever it's called now) and I'll be going with Cassie, Kerri and a few others of our friends! Can't wait to be in Margaritaville...if only for a day!
Wednesday: Onward to VEGAS!! I have a EARLY flight out of Atlanta on Airtran which will dump me in Las Vegas, NV around 10am. I can't wait! We go each year (sometimes twice) with Mike's family. His parents own a few timeshares with Marriott and Las Vegas happens to be one we visit quite often. Mike's sister, Melissa and her husband, Jack and 2 kids (the adorable Lizzie and Brody) will also be there!
Thursday: Up bright and early! Mike and I are heading to Utah to visit Zion National Park! Mike went here a few years ago when we started dating and fell in love. We're heading there to hike Angels Landing. This place honestly scares the mess out of me, but I'm going to suck it up and give it my best try! From the below picture, wouldn't it scare you too!? Thank goodness this is only a short drive from Vegas because I might need to run on home!
Friday: Head back from Zion to the lights and bustle of Las Vegas! Where we'll spend the time playing with the kids, shopping and of course, GAMBLING! I think we'll hit up the Peep Show at Planet Hollywood...staring Holly Madison...and then grab some food!
Saturday: (aka Kentucky Derby!) Mike's sister, Melissa and I have spa appointments at 9am (THANK GOODNESS!) I can't wait to be so relaxed and rejuvenated! Hopefully I'll pick the winning horse and become a millionaire...oh wait, who am I kidding?! Who knows what else we will get into this day, hopefully winning big in the casinos and maybe a fun family dinner or happy hour or two. I really hope there is something big to celebrate (ahem...YAY if there is!)

We head back from our trip on Sunday (BOO!) but look forward to going back in October. Our next few weeks are hectic so I'm excited to get away with Mike and his family for a few fun days away from home!

That Stings a Little...

Update from my earlier post about the job I was interviewing for. You can catch up here about the job and all other things going on in my world.

I didn't get the job. I spent a total of 15 hours traveling, meeting and impressing people in my pretty little suit, but it didn't do the trick. Seems they have hired an external candidate. Oh well. I can't lie and say I wasn't the slightest bit bummed out, because I certainly was. On the other hand, I did get some exciting info yesterday as well. I can't divulge that just yet, check back in a week for the full story!

T minus exactly 7 days and I'll be jammin on slot machines and hitting up the Black Jack tables in Vegas....not to mention my little side jaunt over to Zion Nat'l Park. Pretty stoked if I must admit. Got to start packing...like NOW!

Well, that's all the updating I have...what you got to update me on?

Top 2 Tuesday!

Top 2 Items under $15

1. Blistex Lip Medex: This stuff is awesome and slightly addicting! I use it year round and can never get enough of it. I can remember countless times freaking out when I couldn't find this little blue gem of chapstick! In fact, I need to go find it right now!

2. Larabars: Gods gift to protein bars. These things are epic. Gluten Free, Soy Free and taste amazing! They come in a multitude of flavors (my favorite is the Coconut Cream Pie). These are great for prior to workout and after as well as just a snack during the day. A MUST try if you haven't! You can buy them at Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Publix.

Wishful Wednesdays!

'I wish'...I had never-ending funds to donate to a charity and it would be St. Baldrick's!

This is a charity I've become much more familiar with since being with my boyfriend, Mike. Each year, he grows his hair out, raises money (usually about $2,000-$3,000) and then shaves his hair for Children's Cancer Research. This year, I was touched and felt personally impacted as we were able to meet a young boy, Tony, who is in the 5th grade and currently fighting cancer. He's had four rounds of Chemo and never lost his hair. He too, joined the fight of Childhood Cancer Research by raising money and shaving his head. Here are some pictures from the event held March 12, 2010 at Fado in Atlanta.

My Boyfriend, Mike, getting his head shaved

Tony, finally going bald and not because of his Chemo treatment!

About St. Baldrick's:

Volunteers shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer and family and friends give generously - worldwide. The St. Baldrick's Foundation uses the donations to fund more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States Government.

Life Update!!

Hello long lost friend! I feel like I've been away for weeks, yet well really only just one. In that one week I feel like A LOT has happened! Lemme just fill you in on the life of well, ME!

Boot Camp/Working Out/Nutrition~
Still going like a well oiled machine. We (as in Patsy, Lauren and I) joined a "team" so we get discounts. I only pay $85 per month now to be tortured versus the $125 I was shelling out. SCORE! I think I'll keep it up at least through July if not a bit longer to get in shape for what you'll read below..yay! I've also signed up for a Nutrition seminar through www.dance101.org taught by Desiree who ROCKS! It's 8 weeks long and I can't wait to get started and see what the combo of really following a nutrition plan + bootcamp + dance + training for the Peachtree Road Race and other runs will do for me!

Relationship Life~
Life with Mike is as good as it gets I think. The whole moving in/living together full time transition has been easier than I really anticipated. We've been together a year and four months now and fully living together for eight of the months in his condo (which yes, I wish it was bigger but it def has perks!). We've been discussing marriage and all that for a while now and I'm happy to announce that we've settled on a day (well we're holding it at the place) and picked a venue! That's right kiddies...now I shall just wait for my precious (which you can read all about my precious here)!

Work Life~
My job has taken a shift in directions since about late December/early January. Instead of Marketing, Event Planning and Graphic Design I'm doing pricing and product updates...BORING! My old boss hit me up a day or two ago with a position in my company that is right up my ally, an Event Specialist! I could work from home a lot more and be back to doing what I love and what I'm good at! I am heading up to Rhode Island next week for an interview/meeting so fingers crossed it all works out!

Schedule/Craziness~
This month is the beginning of my hectic crazy year! This is the first of 12 Saturdays/weekends I'm completely booked up. Talk about nuts! I've got 3 weddings, 2 bachelorette parties and birthday party or two in there too. Wrap that up with Jimmy Buffett concert, a triathlon for Mike or 2, a trip to Rhode Island, possible new job, traveling to Vegas/Zion Nat'l Park, Great Urban Race and Warrior Dash! Just thinking about it makes me tired!

What's going on in your life? Is it nearly as hectic as I feel like mine is?
