Come and Get it!

Thursday nights in Buckhead haven't tasted so good!

About two weeks ago I was driving home from a later night at the office (read: I left work at 5:30) and decided to jump down a different road to avoid some traffic. To my surprise, I saw a parking lot FULL of people and food. Food Trucks that is!

Thanks to The Atlanta Street Food Coalition, every Thursday you can get your grub on in Buckhead just steps away from the Buckhead Theatre (the old Roxy). Trucks are there from 6-10pm. Most of them take both cash and credit card and there is a HUGE variety of food not only for you humans, but for you pooch's too!

Mike and I packed up some water bottles, Kona's travel bowl and head out to walk on over to the coolest thing to hit the Buckhead streets in a while.

I hit up the Hail Caesar Food Truck and got the buffalo chicken wrap with lemon orzo pasta and it was a ton of food for a great price. Not to mention, it was AMAZING!! Can't wait to try all the other options that Hail Caesar has to offer! Mike hit up a few of the other trucks and tried a little sample from each. All of the food he got was just as delish. Even Miss Kona joined in the fun and picked up a yummy ice cream snack called "Butt Sniffer" from Poochsicles!

We spent less than $18 dollars on dinner for the both of us....talk about a cheap night! Can't wait to go back next week and see what the trucks have to offer. If you're in the Atlanta area, check out the different stops that the Food Trucks make and try out their awesome food!

Random Wednesday Night

Nothing too exciting to share other than a random post about my random Wednesday!

My summer intern, Becca, and I have been working on our fall event for the office. We've decided to do a mix between Geocaching and Scavenger Hunt in the gorgeous Centennial Park in Atlanta. Yesterday she and I decided to try our hand at Geocaching and well, we were 100% unsuccessful. However, after returning to the office post a yummy lunch at Qdoba, we realized the cache we were looking for was no longer there. I did a google search and realized there were quite a few caches around our home in Buckhead, so I asked Mike if we could go seek one out before dinner. Low and behold, lookie what I found! This one was at OK Cafe right off I-75 underneath the big steel angel. I was quite pumped we actually found it and sent a quick BBM message to Becca and let her know my skills on geocaching were improving!

Miss Kona spent her afternoon at Pupcakes, her favorite groomer/daycare, and came home looking quite snazzy. So far, almost everyone who has seen her new photo has commented, "she looks like a stuffed animal"

Post Geocaching at OK Cafe last night, Mike and I hit up Flip Burger in Buckhead for dinner. Not my favorite boutique burger joint, but close to home and somewhat yummy ... so it'd have to do! I had a 'local' burger with grass fed beef, local onions, tomato and cheese with coca-cola ketchup! To top the night off, Mike and I splurged and ordered milkshakes! I got the nutella and burnt marshmallow milkshake and Mike ordered the Krispy Kreme variety milkshake!

Here's to hoping my Thursday is just as exciting and random as my hump day!

flavor favorite

A few years ago at a beer festival here in Atlanta, Mike and I stumbled upon a brewing company that we wound up loving. Once I tell you the name, a few things might click ... Kona Brewing company.

With 5 different flavors, some seasonal, the offering of Kona Brewing company aims to please just about everyone. While I like almost all of the flavors, there's one that I'm simply in love with and buy up as many cases as I can when it comes out.

Wailua Wheat Ale is an excellent beer to enjoy after a day on the water or at the beach (or even after mowing the lawn or playing softball in your "pau hana" summer league!). It typically pairs well with lighter fare like grilled fish and shrimp, roasted chicken, salads and Asian foods. Perhaps even a dish of vanilla ice cream. (from Kona Brewing Company)

We actually visited Wailua Falls while on our Honeymoon in Kauai! It was so gorgeous and flowing like you'd expect a waterfall to flow since it'd had been quite rainy in Kauai when we were there. Our puppy, Kona, is halfway named for this beer, triathlon and Hawaii in general. Our fridge is currently stocked with an abundance of Wailua Wheat to get me through the next few weeks!

We're now 45 days away from our cruise and I'm not real pumped about being back in a bathing suit. I've been lacking motivation for a bit to workout, perhaps it's my rebellion from workouts to get ready for the wedding ... who knows.

I've decided to try to get it in gear and add a new layer to my (hopefully) back to normal workouts. I'm going to give Jillian Micheals 30 Day Shred a try. Thankfully, my sweet friend, L, has the DVD and is letting me use/have it.

Yesterday on my way home (before seeing the UBER GORGEOUS HOME which I'll update later on) I popped into Target and picked up some weights. Tonight will mark DAY 1 of the 30 Day Shred.

Keep Those Fingers Crossed

When Mike and I first met, obviously we had separate homes. He owned his and I rented mine. Each of us living independently and staying at each others place worked for a while, well until about mid 2009. I broke my lease and moved out of my beloved apartment, my first one out of college on my own to be exact, and began to co-habitate (as my mom calls it). We were engaged a few months after I moved in and (now) married a year after our engagement.

There are many things I love about where we live now. The ability to walk to a good amount of restaurants, bars, shops and grocery stores is awesome. The area is safe and in town. We have a 24hr concierge and all the amenities you could ask for in a condo. There’s only one problem … it’s too small. We have a one bedroom, one bathroom condo for both of us and Miss Kona. We have no room to grow, no place to store any of our gorgeous wedding gifts, nowhere to put anything to be quite honest. I’ve actually become pretty good at hiding things and “organizing” things to make it seem less cluttered. We’ve discussed what to do in this hard economic time (as it pertains to selling homes … not buying) and have decided to start a search for tenants for our place and a new, bigger home for us.

We’ve found some tenants that we think would be a good fit. Still working out the kinks and making sure this is the right plan for Mike and I, but I think it’s going to work in the long run. At least I think there will be a mutually beneficial happiness for both the tenants and us. Also on the upside, Mike and I have been scouring homes to rent/buy/move/get us into a bigger home. Lucky us, we’ve found one we really like. So that brings us back to the title of my blog today. Fingers Crossed. We’re going to check this home out tonight. I’m UBER excited but also know that it could most definitely not work out for us so trying to not keep my hopes up too much. However, if it did, we’d be ecstatic! I’ll be sure to bring you all along with us on the journey as we potentially move from condo owners to new homeowner/renters.

Magazine Bound ...

I received an email late last week from the editor-in-chief of BRIDES Magazine, the Atlanta edition. Apparently our amazing wedding photographers submitted images from our big day and guess what, our cake is being picked up to be printed in the August edition of BRIDES Atlanta Magazine. I had to submit a detailed description of what our cake looked like, who designed it, what flavors were used, etc. Our venue did a fantastic job with re-creating my dream cake and it tasted just as amazing as it looked! While I'm unsure of exactly what picture was submitted, here's what our cake looked like!

The BRIDES Atlanta Magazine will be on shelves in the Atlanta area on August 9th. I am so excited that even a small part from our day is being included in a magazine, even if it is local. I think it'll also be featured on their website. As soon as I get my hands on a copy, I'll be sure to scan it in and share for those of you not in the Atlanta area!

A Whole Lotta New

I've been on a 'new' streak lately. New clothes, new hair products and my two most recent ... new running shoes and a new car!

Back in October I hit up Big Peach Running Co (the one in Buckhead) for some new kicks. They actually fit your feet and let you test the shoes out to make sure they are right for you. The pair I got then, a great New Balance neutral shoe, finally gassed out a few weeks ago but I kept treading thin on them until I could make it back to Big Peach for a new pair. Low and behold, here are my new workout/running friends ... the K-Swiss K-Ona for Women in silver/orange!

They are great, lightweight running shoes made by K-Swiss. Neutral with a little stability and good arch support if you're interested in a new pair and your feet meet that criteria. The color scheme is pretty awesome too. I love the silver and although the orange is a bit bright, it's not too flashy. I ran in them for the first time this morning and loved them! Word of caution though, if you get these kicks, be sure to stretch your calves post workout ... the way your foot sits in the sole of these causes calf pain in the beginning ... what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

In other new news ... I said 'bye' to my beloved Acura, Rudy and 'hello' to my new Jeep Grand Cherokee (70th Anniversary), Conrad! While I don't have any pictures of my own to show you just yet, here's what a professional version looks like!
Ours is silver with black interior, probably not smart for the summer, but okay for the winter! Conrad has all the bells and whistles I could possibly need. I love being in a bigger car, again, yet the gas prices really are already killing me when I look at how much it takes to fill it up! I'll try to get some shots of the interior and my favorite part, a picture of Kona in my dash!
