Hello, October

I am not 100% sure how in the world we've ended up in October. I can't believe the leaves are starting to change, the weather is getting nicer and I'm currently wearing a scarf. But alas, it is true.

So far, October hasn't been so bad. Here's why.

Miss Kona turned 1 on October 1st. It's hard to believe our precious poodle baby is already a year old! To celebrate her birthday, Miss Kona enjoyed a delicious Frosty Paw and some hangout time with Mommy and Daddy!

The Crimson Tide is now 5-0. While I was a little nervous at the start of the game this past weekend against the Gators, my beloved Tide pulled off a great victory and are now sitting in the #2 spot in the rankings. Way to go BAMA!

My Half Marathon training is right on track. I logged 5 miles yesterday on a slightly hilly course but post run felt great! This week I'm looking to log a total of 13 miles with my longest run being on Saturday at 6 miles. Thank goodness when I get finished with these longer runs I have my awesome Zoot Compression socks to put on! They are truly amazing!

I've also joined Weight Watchers in hopes to drop the rest of these unwanted pounds sooner than later. So far, I'm down 2lbs last week and a total of 1.2lbs overall. I've been trying to make real adjustments in my eating habits but know that there will be days (usually Saturdays) that I just go all out and eat whatever I want. I really try to keep my eating and working out on track all week long so that on my 'cheat' days I don't feel so bad!

There's still 28 days left in this month and I'm really hoping that the first 3 will be indicative of the rest. Here's to looking forward to sweaters, more scarfs, more victories for the Tide, strong runs and pounds lost.

Ten Things Your Pooch Wants You To Know

Saw this over at Hello Miss Chelsea  today and knew I just had to share! Miss Kona is one of my absolute favorite things in the world and I am so grateful that my hubby and I made the choice to get her this past November. While she can sometimes be a bother when I'm trying to focus or get stuff done, I know that when I take even a few seconds to praise her or scratch her belly, she savors those moments and appreciates them greatly. I'm a firm believer that a pet is a part of the household and I can attest that Miss Kona is 100% a member of our family!

Reading this today made me take a step back and remember that Miss Kona is precious to both my hubby and I as well as our family and friends. It's important that she knows how much we love her everyday!
Miss Kona
Ten Things Your Dog Wants You To Know

1 - My life will probably only last 7 to 14 years. It will hurt me more than you know if I have to be away from you for longer than a day or two.

2 - If you have patience with me and give me time to learn what you would like from me, I can promise you, you will never be disappointed.

3 - Trust me with your life and have faith in our future together. If I don't feel that you honestly believe in me, I will suffer great emotional stress. My sense of self-worth is totally dependent upon your confidence in me.

4 - Don't stay mad at me for long or confine me to a cage to punish me. You have your friends, your job, and your recreation. I HAVE ONLY YOU!

5 - Talk to me about anything you want as frequently as possible. Even if I can't comprehend your precise words, I can understand the meaning of what you're telling me by the tone of your voice.

6 - Remember no matter how you treat me, I will NEVER forget it.

7 - When you consider raising your hand to hit me, remember I have teeth that could break the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

8 - Before you scream at me for failing to respond to your commands as I usually do, take time to think about what might be wrong with me that would cause me to treat you differently. Maybe I haven't been eating right or drinking enough water. Or maybe my age is catching up with me and I just can't do what I used to do.

9 - Take good care of me when I get old. Someday you will be as old as me and you will see how it feels.

10 - Be there for me through good times and bad. Never say you can't handle taking me to the vets for stitches or surgery. Nothing could make me feel worse. Everything in my life is easier for me to deal with when I have you standing by my side. Remember my love for you is unconditional and it will last for your entire life.

Make sure you love on your pet, whatever it may be, each and every day. I can promise you one thing, they will return the favor!

Random Wednesday Night

Nothing too exciting to share other than a random post about my random Wednesday!

My summer intern, Becca, and I have been working on our fall event for the office. We've decided to do a mix between Geocaching and Scavenger Hunt in the gorgeous Centennial Park in Atlanta. Yesterday she and I decided to try our hand at Geocaching and well, we were 100% unsuccessful. However, after returning to the office post a yummy lunch at Qdoba, we realized the cache we were looking for was no longer there. I did a google search and realized there were quite a few caches around our home in Buckhead, so I asked Mike if we could go seek one out before dinner. Low and behold, lookie what I found! This one was at OK Cafe right off I-75 underneath the big steel angel. I was quite pumped we actually found it and sent a quick BBM message to Becca and let her know my skills on geocaching were improving!

Miss Kona spent her afternoon at Pupcakes, her favorite groomer/daycare, and came home looking quite snazzy. So far, almost everyone who has seen her new photo has commented, "she looks like a stuffed animal"

Post Geocaching at OK Cafe last night, Mike and I hit up Flip Burger in Buckhead for dinner. Not my favorite boutique burger joint, but close to home and somewhat yummy ... so it'd have to do! I had a 'local' burger with grass fed beef, local onions, tomato and cheese with coca-cola ketchup! To top the night off, Mike and I splurged and ordered milkshakes! I got the nutella and burnt marshmallow milkshake and Mike ordered the Krispy Kreme variety milkshake!

Here's to hoping my Thursday is just as exciting and random as my hump day!

It's Only Tuesday?!

Miss Kona is all snuggled up next to me as I'm wrapping things up for work and packing up to head to the airport to head out to Raleigh, NC for meetings. She loves having us home with her during the day but she sure doesn't like when you try to leave. I bet she is beyond confused with the amount of travel both Mike and I have been doing lately. Poor girl...she tried to get packed to go with me!

someone was not happy that I'm packing up a suitcase ... again

Princess Kona on her pillow tuft
I hate leaving this sweet face, but know that when I come home, she'll be so over the top excited to see me! Catch ya on the flip-side. I'm heading off to the land of BBQ and long, long staff meetings!

Case of Bedhead

Kona was not happy about getting up this morning. She has the best "bed hair" and sleepy puppy eyes in the morning. I am always snapping photos of her when she wakes up and I'm pretty sure she hates the camera because of it...maybe this is why she always attacks my phone?!

Baby Kona is 6 Months Old!

Hard to believe what life was like pre-Kona! We've had her for four months now and wouldn't trade a thing. She's the big 6 months old today! Her curls are finally starting to come in and she's starting to look more like a real dog than a teddy bear! She brings us joy everyday and is one very loved poodle!

Happy Thursday!

Today is a crazy day. Mike leaves for his bachelor party in Las Vegas (God Help Me!), My sweet friend's puppy is getting its leg amputated (SO SO sad) and I get to go to a private event at JCrew. All in all, it's going to be hectic mixed with some serious emotions for a few reasons. So instead of getting into the nitty gritty of how I'm feeling, I'll share some new photos instead!

Baby Kona says Roll Tide!

7:45AM this morning ... nothing like an ICING to start your bachelor party!

Mike's obsession!
Hope your Thursday is going well! The good news, it's almost Friday!

Poor Baby Kona

Kona got spayed last week and she's been looking silly in her 'hats' ever since. Some of her outer stitches started coming out so she had to go back to get them glued and have some glands drained. Thank goodness our vet is also our friend and she is always there when we need to ask questions or have a minor freak out (by me of course!). Kona gets the rest of her stitches out on Monday am and I know she'll be SO happy to not have to wear her little hats anymore.

Because I'm a mean puppy mom, I snapped this photo of our baby girl!

Hate to be leaving her all weekend (this is the first time I'll be away from her really) but can't wait to get to Nashville to party!

It's a Numbers Game!

So we're in the downhill of this whole engagement thing and onto the upswing of marriage. We're 57 days away from saying 'I Do' and the days are flying by. Before I know it, April will be here.

Invitations went out a few weeks ago and I'm quite impressed with the rapid response we have received. Here's a breakdown of where we stand so far.

Total Number of Invites Sent : 90
Total Number of People Invited : 181
RSVP Cards Received : 49
RSVP Cards in Limbo : 41

YES : 85
No : 6
Worst Case Everyone Else Says Yes Scenario : 166

I have it budgeted for 150 as my headcount. Chances of 16 more people saying no (or 8 couples out of 41) I think is pretty good. Here's to hoping we hit that number. Anything below 150 would be golden too! It's quite sad that my mom gets excited when we get No's! HA!

Other wedding things are starting to wrap up. We're in the midst of starting our seating chart, favors, "leaving" item, wedding gifts and basic ceremony/reception stuff. Crazy to believe in such a short time all the planning will be done and the party will be here. Lord only knows how I'll spend my time afterwards. I spend so much time planning, thinking and doing that I've got a feeling I'm gonna be ULTRA bored afterwards! Good news is we have a few friends just starting the planning so I'll be helping out there and partying it up with them!

In other news, next Friday some of my favorite girls will be heading to Nashville to party it up for my Bachelorette/27th Birthday bash! To say I'm excited is an understatement. I'll be blogging more about our impending adventures over the next week!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and something fun on tap. For me, it's date night tonight at The Capital Grille and tomorrow is a crazy day of shower hosting and Bachelorette fun for my sweet friend, Carla! On a sad note, please keep Baby Kona in your thoughts as she's having some surgery today to get spayed and her baby teeth pulled. Yes, I realize she's just a dog, but she is my baby girl and I love her so much!

Happy Friday!

Baby Kona is Growing Up

Baby Kona is now 5 months old! She's getting so big and curious about everything! She weighs in at a whopping 5.4lbs and I'd be willing to say 3lbs of that is fur! She looks so much bigger because of all the fur!

Her curls are just starting to come in and she's starting to look more 'Poodle' like! She's loving these rather warm early Spring days as she gets to hang out on the patio! I'm just glad she's big enough not to fit through the little slats so she can go out and play on her own!

Sadly, she wasn't feeling good this morning, but I snapped a photo anyways as she looks all cute and cuddly snuggled up in her bed with her 'friends'.

Sleepy Tuesday!

Miss Kona sure didn't want to get out of bed today. So instead of rushing her, I decided to have a little photo shoot! She loves the camera and even more than that, snuggling in bed until the very  last minute!

poking her head out when I told her it was time to wake up!
a bit of a morning hair look
really unsure about this whole waking up to a photo shoot thing!
still unsure, but feeling better about starting the day!

Four Months Old and Already Spoiled Rotten!

Miss Kona is 4 months old today! She's more spoiled than most babies! We love her so much and I don't know what I'd do without her and I hardly remember what it was like to not have a puppy! She's growing, learning and  such a little cuddle bug. Her curls are finally starting to come in and she's starting to get wiggly teeth that are about to fall out! I forgot to take more pictures, but here are a few to hold you over...try not to get lost in the cuteness :)

snuggling with her toys

dancing in her UGA cheer outfit

hanging out in her new Valentine's tshirt!

how could you NOT love this face?!

Snowy Greetings from Kona!

It's a cold, cold snowy day here in Atlanta. I can't believe how much we actually got! Thank goodness for laptops and working from home because there is no way I'm driving to the office. While it's gorgeous out and I want to go play in the snow, totally unsure if that's a good idea or not!

Not only did we get about 4-5 inches of snow last night, but it was good fluffy snow! Miss Kona was sinking in the snow and couldn't figure out if she should eat it or not!
Kona last night just sinking in the snow!
about 2-3 inches in just one hour!
With the snow, came the ice ... and a nice layer of it to be honest. The snow is no longer fluffy at first touch, but hard and easier to walk on...less sinking action! Currently we're debating heading to meet some friends to go sledding, worth it or not?! Kona sure does enjoy it though! She's not too sure about it, but is growing more fond of it each time she goes out. The psycho puppy mom I am, I take photos :)

icicles
ready to take Miss Kona out!
getting blown away in the snow! see how she's not sinking this time!?

might be my favorite picture, ever!
the hill next to our condo!
The weather wont get above freezing until almost Friday! I sure hope we're able to get out before then!

Look Ma! I'm 3 months old!

Miss Kona is now 3 months old! She's growing up so fast (gosh I sound like a psycho puppy mom!) and her features are really starting to change/show. She's got one heck of a personality and she's a cuddlebug like I've never experienced before! Here are some of her latest shots!
